Best Websites for Theater and Performing Arts Info
Find out what is playing on Broadway, off-Broadway, at Lincoln Center, or Carnegie Hall; read the reviews, purchase tickets. Sometimes you can save a few bucks “convenience fee” by purchasing your tickets via the individual theater’s website.
nytheatre.com My first choice, complete, easy to browse and navigate.
playbill.com This one’s good too.
ny.com/theater Or this one.
Lincolncenter.com Lincoln Center website: ballet, opera, orchestra, film society, and more.
Carnegiehall.org Carnegie Hall website.
About Discount Theater Tickets (TKTS Booths)
There are two TKTS where you can save 25% - 50% off the retail ticket price for same-day performances. You have to wait in line, and pay with cash or traveler’s checks. I’ve never done this; I like to have my tickets ahead of time, and don’t want to spend my precious getaway time waiting in line. But that’s just me; if you want to try, the booths are located at:
Times Square Theatre Center
47th St. & Broadway
Mon-Sat 3pm-8pm (for evening performances)
Weds & Sat 10am-2pm (for matinees)
Sun 11 am – evening (varies) (for matinee and evening performances)
Downtown Theatre Center
Resnick-Prudential Building
199 Water St (@ Front & John Sts.)
Mon-Sat 11am-6pm, Sun 11am – 3:30pm
At this location you must buy matinee tickets a day in advance.

Comedy Clubs
Some of the more popular clubs include Caroline’s on Broadway, Chicago City Limits, Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip Live, Dangerfield’s, and Gotham Comedy Club.
For a complete list of comedy clubs, including addresses, maps, links, editorial reviews, and more, the best resource I’ve found at is at: nyc.com.
