Boston Shopping: Malls
As many of you know, I’m not a big fan of mall shopping on my city getaways.
I’d much rather stroll down a city street, and shop the more interesting local boutiques. (I can do malls at home!) However, maybe that’s just me … and even I must admit, a nice mall comes in handy when you need to get out of the weather, or just need all your shopping under one roof.
The Shops at Prudential Center Basic upscale mall, anchored by Saks and Lord & Taylor.
Over 75 shops — Ann Taylor, Chico’s, Talbots, Club Monaco, Sephora, etc. — and restaurants, including Boston’s famous Legal Sea Foods. Large food court. Access to the Top of the Hub Restaurant and Skywalk Observatory. Purchase tickets for Boston Duck Tours, Beantown Trolley Tours, and Old Town Trolley Tours.
Location: Back Bay. Between Boylston and Huntington, and between Exeter and Dalton.
Getting there: Accessible via the MBTA Green Line, Orange Line, or Commuter Line. For more specific subway and driving directions found on the Prudential Center website, click here.
(But remember, Boston is fairly compact, so you might just be able to walk here.)
Copley Place High-end luxury mall, anchored by Nieman Marcus and the new Barneys New York.
75 shops including Burberry, Gucci, Kenneth Cole, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. … you get the idea. One less-familiar shop I like is Karen Millen, an English designer of upscale contemporary women’s clothing, known for workmanship, flattering fit, and interesting details. There’s also a Legal Sea Foods restaurant and an Au Bon Pain.
Location: Copley Place is near the intersections of Stuart, Dartmouth, and Huntinton (called Avenue of the Arts here). Click here for Google map.
Getting there: MBTA: Orange Line to Back Bay or Green Line to Copley. (Once again, remember you can probably just walk here too.)
